Sharing a secret with a family member (you can't — and why)

Secrets can't be shared, not even within a Family plan. Each person's vault is locked with a key only their own devices hold.

Short answer: you can't. Not with your partner, not with your parents, not within a Family plan. That's on purpose.

Why not

Your vault is locked with a key that only exists on your devices. Our servers never see it, which is why we can promise that nobody but you can read your secrets. Not us, not someone who breaks into our servers.

Sharing a secret would mean putting a copy on someone else's device, locked with their key. From then on, you'd no longer decide who sees it, when, or what happens to it on a lost phone. And we'd have to build a way for secrets to travel between people, which is exactly the kind of door the vault is designed not to have.

So every vault belongs to one person.

What to do instead

Each person adds their own. On a Family plan, every member has their own vault. Ask them to add the numbers for their own accounts. It takes a minute.

The account holder says it. If a company asks for a number on an account in your mum's name, the request goes to whoever owns the case. If that's her, she can say it from her device with one tap. If she'd rather, she can choose "I'll say it myself" and join the call for a moment.

Tell them yourself. If someone really needs a number, give it to them the way you would without Aydria. That's your call, not ours.

And memory?

The same goes for memory. On a Family plan each member's memory is private to them; the owner of the plan can't see it. Members share the credit pool, not their lives. More in What Aydria remembers.
